The Hospitality industry is the fourth biggest employer in the UK; accounting for 3.2m jobs nationwide with a further 2.8m more indirectly. It is also one of the sectors hardest hit by the Coronavirus pandemic.
This sector has always been close to the heart of Siren Communications and we have extensive experience within the travel PR and comms sector, having worked with hospitality giants, tour operators, cruise lines and experiential lifestyle brands around the globe.
Current clients in the space include Scenic River Cruises, Emerald Waterways as well as long-standing client, Rabbie’s who we have helped future-proof and created a media reach of over 16m people in the past two months despite nationwide travel restrictions.
As the pandemic struck and hotels and restaurants floundered, we decided to use our experience as a fast-paced comms agency, with our finger on the pulse, to support a sector which desperately needed to be agile. Therefore, when we heard about The Hospitality Gig, it was clear our desires to keep hospitality afloat were the same and that this could be a successful partnership.
An innovative start up designed to ‘Keep Hospitality Working’, Rachel Moosa, Fiona Robson and Kate Walsh, each impacted in their own way by the pandemic, created The Hospitality Gig in late 2020. Between them they have 63 years of experience working in travel and hospitality, with senior leadership roles for global brands including Hilton, Accor, Fairmont, and Disney before founding The Hospitality Gig.
They identified a problem and found a solution; due to the uncertainty surrounding restrictions, businesses in the hospitality sector were and still are struggling with balancing stock, cash and staff. The Hospitality Gig helps this issue by helping to provide flexible staff options as and when they are needed but retaining tight controls on cost. The start-up charges a fee for each completed gig opportunity which is lower than agencies and without a registration or subscription fee.
Enamoured by their innovative thinking, we wanted to help them shout from the rooftops and give The Hospitality Gig a flying start. Siren created a PR strategy to raise brand awareness in the relevant spaces, secure industry coverage implementing our excellent media relations and get the right people talking about the innovative Hospitality Gig.
After crafting strong key messaging and an announcement release, it was about careful media targeting with bespoke angles and offerings.
With news angles, interviews and business profile opportunities we had a 360 approach to telling the great story behind the business and its three female co-founders.
